As I write this I am getting more and more frustrated. Why? Because I CAN BARELY SEE MY GOD DAMNED SCREEN!!! Calm down Lana. Take a deep breath. Nope. I still can’t see it! DAMNIT!
Last night there was some sort of power surge that managed to make its’ way past My surge protector. Don’t know what it did to My laptop but now the screen is so dim that I can barely see. It is really hurting My eyes to continue typing this. But on I persevere because writing really is My life. I write to relax. I write to process. I write a lot. My goal in life is to become a published author. AND NOW MY COMPUTER IS FUCKED UP!!!! I called the local computer repaid guy who has always done well by Me. Since My laptop is older than dirt (2002) he said there isn’t much of a point in repairing the screen as it will cost almost half of getting a new laptop.
I am so angry I could scream.
In fact I think I will.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Deep breaths Lana.. 1….2….3….4…5…6…FUCKING DAMNIT!
I just can’t express how utterly totally I am over this. I don’t need the nicest things. I don’t require much in the way of the material. All I asked for is that I have a laptop with word processing capabilities so that I can keep up with My train of thought.
FUCK!
If you have an old laptop you would like to sell cheap, please let Me know. Or if you would like to contribute to the “Lana Needs A New Fucking Laptop Fund” donations will be gratefully accepted to My email address through Paypal.

Oh no! This will surely put a damper on the blog. :(
I don't know about your laptop, but I know that some models have a outlet in the back that you can use to connect it to a actual computer monitor. I know the Goodwill in Galion has a lot of computer monitors on the cheap, so you may be able to buy one and hook it up. However, that is entirely dependent on your laptop's configuration. Just an idea.
Either way, I hope you figure something out. I will miss your online presence otherwise.
Good luck!
I think I might have found something that may help, but it may not. I know you said your computer is an older HP but it might still be relevant.
Sometimes HP installs a hkey.exe program on their computers. Basically it means that it has some things specific to the laptop hotkeyed, such as the power saving or the monitors lighten/darken function. The examples I found were holding the "Fn" key and pressing F7/F8 or the down arrow key or up arrow key to darken and lightening the screen. It may be a different key to hold or a different combination on your computer.
I'm hoping this works, as it sounds like a software issue rather than a hardware. Mainly because there are more things likely to go out during a surge than your monitor, such as the power supply or the processor. Also, if it did go out, it would more likely killed your screen than just dim it. So try that, or give me more information and I might be able to look into it further.
You can also try unplugging your laptop from the power cord. From some I read that seems to brighten the screen too.
Either way, I wish you the best of luck on this current issue.
