thrift and leather

I love thrifting. I have found more wonderfully fantastic pieces from the thrift store than I have ever found in a 1st time around store. Take yesterday for example. I was just walking my mom around the city. We headed to Good Will to see what they had. What do I find? A BRAND NEW Samsonite giant suitcase! What's more, it's $4. Cut to me creaming my pants. So I snatched that little beauty up. I also showed great restraint in not buying the nearly new 3 piece red travel set that was there as well. Oh did I forget to mention that I LOVE suitcases? Seriously! I LOVE THEM! I have about 5 complete sets (thus my restraint). I guess a part of me hopes to eventually be able to do a ton of traveling. However I don't usually like normal regular suitcases. I like the older ones with personality. However, this giant Samsonite case was exactly what I wanted for a toy bag. Yes, I said toybag. I have a huge one but it is the cheap knock off version with canvas sides that I am always afraid my toys will bust out of. So when I saw this, well I creamed.

So today I did the Toy Bag Shuffle, moving my toys from one bag to my pretty shiny new one. I tend to keep each section of my toys seperate from each other. My floggers are all in a case. My sensual toys are in a bag, etc. SO that way I just open up my giant bag and everything is ready for whatever type of play I want. I love my system.

Anyway, as I am doing the shuffle I take out my leather cuffs and My sub's leather collar. Both looked rather dry and wanted for some attention. I decided I was going to treat the collar and cuffs to a good mink oil rub down. At this point my husband says that I shouldn't do it. That is my boi's job and it should wait for him to return. I brought up the point that it will be in bad shape by the time he gets back from this tour, let alone back from the next should he have to go. My husband countered that it would be good for him to have to work hard to repair the damage from the distance. I thought this was a very interesting idea and I really liked it. In the end though, I went ahead and treated the collar and cuffs. My cuffs I will be using quite a bit before he returns. And My sub's collar... well I told him I would have it waiting for him when he returns. So right now it is in My keeping. I will not allow something in My keeping to waste and wither. Especially not something that means so much.

So I spent the next hour or so really working over the leather of his collar and My cuffs. In the end they look much MUCH better and I was happy to have done it.


You can't really tell but this is his collar looking battered and worn.
