Crying Ladies
This is a Pilipino film which was a new experience for Me. Parts of it were in English. Parts of it were in Filipino and parts of it were in Chinese. I must say that I did enjoy this movie.
The main character, Stella, is hired to be a professional mourner at a Chinese funeral. She is a good woman trying to make ends meet and needs some extra money because her son Bong is coming to stay with her before he moves to another province with his father and step mom. So she takes the decent paying job to mourn for 5 days plus the funeral. Stella enlists 2 of her friends to come mourn as well. One is a washed up B movie star and the other is an adulterous Christian.
Though at times the movie was a bit slow I really enjoyed it overall. It was a different story than I had ever seen. There was more than enough humor to counter balance the dramatic story. More than anything I could identify with the characters. No matter where you are or what you do the human condition applies.
I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys foreign films.
