Happy Memorial Day

Went and saw the parade this morning. Apparently that and a cook out is all that is expected of us non-military types on Memorial Day. I think it's horseshit.

I may not agree with the fighting. I may not agree with the wars. I may not agree with much to do with the military. But I have nothing but respect for our armed forces. Especially those who died in service to their country.

My father served in the Navy in Vietnam.

My grandfather served in the Army in Korea.

My uncles served in the Army, some in Vietnam, some in Germany.

My cousin is a Col. in the Army in Iraq.

My sub serves in the National Guard and is about to be deployed to Afghanistan.

Today I will be having the requisite barbeque. But My heart is hurting. Today will be hard.
